Dylan Thomas reads “Do Not Go Gentle…”
The Academy of American Poets has released this audio clip of Dylan Thomas’s reading of his own famous poem, “Do not go gentle into that good night.” It’s not an mp3 you can download, but you can listen to this beautiful villanelle in the flash player!

Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.Though wise men at their end know dark is right,
Because their words had forked no lightning they

Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight,
And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way,

Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay,

Sourful story, which tells a son’s desperately persuastion for his father to not to surrender to the death like all kinds men do. It conveys his passionate love for his father.
I do have a question though.
Why do famous poets like Edgar Allen Poe so alcoholic?
Note: Dylan Thomas was alcoholic himself.
